Why are JanSport SuperBreak backpacks so popular?

At my middle school everyone wears Black JanSport SuperBreak backpack... including me. Is there a reason why? Is it like that at your school?

It's like wearing a white t-shirt, you'll fit in with everyone else. If you moved to a new school and everyone had red Columbia backpacks on, you'd probably feel out of place with your black jansport one on. You'd at least THINK about buying a red Columbia backpack to fit in.

And yes, even 10 years ago, my middle school was like that, with at least 90% of the people in blue or black JanSport backpacks.

i need to wash mine.. is it ok if i hosed it? would anything happen to the straps or material?
