Digital SLR Camera Bag Reccomendations (Lowepro slingshot?)?

Hello there,

I'm looking for a bag to take my DSLR on holday with. I dont consider myself a pro photographer but do carry some bits and pieces. Planning to take my 400D SLR with 28-135 IS lens, chargers, cables and a couple of other lenses with me.

The lowepro slingshot (looking at the 200 and 300) seem to be ace bags and easy to live with and also have a space for additional bits and pieces (non camera related, suntan cream etc etc) but was wondering if anyone else had any good reccomendations for maybe a little less money.

Critical to have space for the above mentioned kit but also need space for other non camera related parephenalia.

any thoughts?

Lowepro sling bags and backpacks are better because the do not announce ..."there are cameras here ... steal me!"

I have used an ordinary backpack (Crux be Gregory) for over five years and there is room in it for two DSLR's, three lenses, two flashes and a small reflector and in the small pouch, plenty of room for film, lens cleaning tissue, light meter, pens, notepads, small level, ear plugs and battery charger.

I can also stick two one liter bottles of water and a mono-pod in it when I am hiking.

will a dslr camera with battery grip with 70-200mm fit on a lowepro slingshot 200aw ?

It sure should.

Pros DSLR's with lens are all at least the size of your DSLR with battery grip and 70-200mm lens.

You really will have to take your camera into a store that sells the back pack and see for yourself

Did you read this?
"The SlingShot 200 AW holds an SLR with mid-range zoom lens attached 3-4 extra lenses, cables and accessories and has a full access lid to make loading it a snap."

It is from the link to the 200AW

Lowepro SlingShot 100 for a Nikon D80?

Looking for a Slingshot for my D80 but would like to know if the 100 fits the D80 well? Not too small? Anyone know from experience? I can't find any in stores so would have to order online but don't want to order it unless I know it fits. I can only find the slingshot 200 in stores but would like something smaller as I don't own many lenses. Thanks

Don't worry about it being too big, you will eventually grow into it.

I love the Wall Weather Cover.

Lowepro Slingshots... pros and cons?

So, a little dilemma.

Looking at some slingshots, they seem better constructed than Crumpler's Brazilian Dollar Home. I'll admit that one shoulder straps may not be so good... but I think it should be fine.

Even though I've heard it's heavy.

Which is why I've somewhat become a little lost.

Firstly, here's what I'll eventually be putting in, so the bag must at least be able to take this:
- Canon body with battery grip
- One, two flashes
- 24-105mm
- 12-24mm
- 100mm macro
And, the thing that I'm worried about...
- 150-500mm

So as long as any of the Slingshots can carry this, it'll be good. Do pass on the smallest model that can, thanks.

Additional notes:
- Anyone used Slingshot 350, with laptop, and how was weight?
- I don't think you can take the 350 on an airplane. Can you manage to, with laptop?
- Any back pain? They've apparently designed it quite well. Hardly any complaints...

Any other details will be appreciated. Thanks.

I don't have the slingshot so I may not be a great deal of help. I do have the Lowepro Rover plus, I also have used Lowe backpacks since the 80s they make a great long lasting product, My Rover is larger than the 350 and I take it as carryon all the time. The 150-500mm would not fit in the bottom padded compartment of my Rover but in a caser it will squeeze into the top compartment where I also keep the speedlights. The Rover does NOT carry a notebook computer, When I have to carry a laptop I use the National Georgraphic Explorer large Go to the camera store and have them load it up for you so you can see how things fit. Good stores will do that for you.
